Administration professionals need to develop a range of skills to be successful in their roles and often need to share their expertise across different business units. They’re seen as the glue that keeps an organisation operating smoothly and efficiently.
This skill set is designed to develop planning, organising, prioritising and information management skills that are sought-after by employers. It will provide you with the foundations for effective administration no matter what job role you perform.
Foundation and elective modules
We know that there’s no such thing as a ‘standard’ administrative role. Depending on the type of team you work within – HR, marketing, finance or events - you’ll be required to draw on specific and different administrative skills.
This skill set includes three foundation modules for administrative professionals and your choice of one elective that will enhance your skills as the relate to your area of expertise or particular job role.
This skill set includes three foundation modules:
1. Use communication to build relationships
- Communicate with clients and co-workers
- Address communication needs
- Facilitate meetings
2. Organise personal work priorities and development
- Organise and complete own work schedule
- Monitor own work performance
- Co-ordinate personal skill development and learning
3. Use multiple information systems
- Access a range of information systems
- Process customer information using multiple information systems
- Identify and rectify information system and processing errors
To customise your skill set to your specific needs, choose from one of the elective options below to ‘round out’ administrative talents. Once you’ve enrolled we’ll be in touch to confirm your elective selection and set you up.
1. Deliver training in your workplace
If your administrative role includes inducting and training others new procedures or key tasks this elective module will suit you.
2. Handling customer complaints
If you deal directly with customers on a day to day basis this module will help overcome complaints and disputes.
3. Plan and implement employee inductions
If you support the HR team and work with new starters to set them up for success, this module is for you.
4. Planning and delivering a conference
Work in the fast paced events industry or support the marketing team to roll out functions? This module offers the skills you need.
5. Time management
Are you expected to perform administrative tasks in addition to your core or specialist job role? This module includes effective, practical techniques to help manage your time and get it done.
6. Project Coordination
Developing a strong understanding of project management basics means you’ll be able to apply those principles to almost any work task – you’ll get more done, and get noticed for it.
Who should enrol?
This non-accredited skill set is designed for anyone who is pursuing a career in administration or wants the skills to balance administrative requirements with other responsibilities.
Course delivery and support
This skill set is delivered fully online via MiTraining’s Learning Management System (LMS). When you enrol you’ll be asked to setup your LMS student account and will then be granted immediate access to the course materials including:
- Course content and reading materials
- Quizzes and knowledge checks
- Reflective questions and activities
- Extra learning resources
You will have a 6 months’ access to the learning resources to provide additional time and flexibility to complete each module.
MiTraining recommends committing around 3-5 hours per week to the course including reading the course material and attempting course activities.
You may complete the course more quickly depending on how much time you can dedicate.
What are the course payment options?
There is a one-off, up front course fee that can be paid by credit card or an invoice (by request).
Do I have to do the course activities?
The course activities are designed to build your understanding of each topic area. The activities are not marked or assessed but you must complete them to make the most of the learning and receive a Certificate of Completion.
Is the course accredited?
MiTraining has drawn on its team’s expertise to develop this engaging and contemporary skill set. It is a non-accredited course designed for individual professional development.
